Caleb is in a new team at Soccer. We’re both VERY excited about this. The team is a strong one -- 2 really awesome defenders, and 2 really strong attackers, and an awesome all-rounder!!
The team name is “Boas” in keeping with snake team names. At first I was thinking.. Hmm -- big, slow. But I realised -- Boa Constrictors are TOUGH and can eat a whole cow!
So -- They asked me to be the team coach. I’m very excited about that. Caleb was super excited too. I think he might be picking it up from me.
Thursday night was the first training match, and it was TOUGH going. There were only 4, and the other team had 5. So they were defeated 2-0. They were a little discouraged, but I managed to cheer them up -- reminding them it was their first time as a team.
Today was a different story. We started off with a practice session and remembering names game -- pass the ball and yell the name.
I then reminded the team that Boa Constrictors where huge and fearsome, and could swallow a whole cow!
The lads were nervous -- but we focussed on our goals:
- Pass the ball to each other
- Call for it
- Support the attackers
- Defend like crazy
- Encourage each other like crazy
So -- we came up with a team chant: “Try again a million times!” this was what we were yelling to each other if we missed, or messed up on the goal.
The team then got to it -- and they achieved a mighty victory (Not that we are counting -- but everyone does.)
Lets just say it wasn’t an utter defeat -- but the team were able to score 6 goals, and stop all but 1 goal.
Caleb scored one, the first one for a long time for him -- he’s traditionally been a solid defense player. The other boys worked on passing the ball to each other to get our strong attackers up the front. Really cool display of teamwork. Someone’s been up watching the World Cup, methinks!
Far out! What an awesome bunch of lads! We’ll be able to work with this lot, and Socceroos here we come!!
Remember: Pythons might look big and slow, but they are fearsome, and can swallow a whole cow!
Lyrics:
I’m being eaten by a Boa Constrictor,
A Boa Constrictor,
A Boa Constrictor.
I’m being eaten by a Boa Constrictor,
And I don’t like it one bit.
Whadaya know, it’s nibblin’ my toe.
Oh gee, it’s up to my knee.
Oh fiddle, it’s up to my middle.
Oh heck, it’s up to my neck.
Oh dread, it’s mm-mm-mm-mm…
I’m being eaten by a Boa Constrictor,
A Boa Constrictor,
A Boa Constrictor.
I’m being eaten by a Boa Constrictor,
And I don’t like it one bit.
Whadaya know, it’s nibblin’ my toe.
Oh gee, it’s up to my knee.
Oh fiddle, it’s up to my middle.
Oh heck, it’s up to my neck.
Oh dread, it’s mm-mm-mm-mm…
